Aims of the Course

This course provides the skills related to room acoustics. The Course will deal with Fundamentals of Acoustics, theory of Room Acoustics, Practices on Room acoustics design

 

Fundamental of Acoustics

The acoustic phenomenon. Pressure, acoustic pressure. Frequency analysis. One-octave and one-third octave analysis. White and pink noise.

 

 

 

Room Acoustics

The basic equations. Acoustic pressure and velocity. Sound speed. The decibel. Properties of dB. Frequency analysis. White and Pink noise. Sound insulation. Sound absorption. Sound propagation in enclosures. Reverberation time. The Impulse Response. Other acoustic parameters.

 

Practical and Experimental part

Measurements of Impulse Responses: monoaural, binaural and ambisonics. Post processing

Oral and written exam.      

The students will be asked to answer to queries about the program

Moreover, each student is requested to prepare a written report about the experimental part of the course. This written report must be prepared following the templated provided to the students and must be sent by email in DOC.

The final grade will be obtained as in the following: 10/30 written report; 20/30 exam
